SPECIAL MENTION

Forcite Alpine – Smart Helmet for Snow Sports

Forcite Helmet Systems Pty. Ltd., Sydney, Australia www.forcite.com.au

About Forcite Alpine

Forcite Alpine is the world's first smart helmet for snow sports. It fully integrates a 4K camera system, Bluetooth/wireless communication via mesh-networking, and automatic active emergency GPS. The helmet can send information to local authorities on where the user is located during and after accidents or emergencies, and provides useful local information to users through its onboard artificial intelligence system (Viki). All functions are available without needing to pair with a smart phone.

The idea behind Forcite Alpine is that users should be able to enhance their outdoor adventure sport experience without having to attach bulky action cameras and other potentially dangerous and cumbersome devices onto a helmet. We at Forcite believe that everyone should be able to easily share their experiences without compromising their safety or the safety of others.

Statement of the Jury

Technology will continue to influence our products and our world. We cannot live without technology, yet sometimes we are caught in difficult situations, where technology is not easily accessible. This idea is a smart way of increasing safety consciousness by designing a product so attractive that young people will really want it. The Forcite Alpine helmet exemplifies intelligence with resonance – it’s smart, but only when the intelligence fits the purpose, and is the perfect vehicle for the amount of technology needed. The design team’s excellence is seen in the level of detail, not only in thinking what technology goes into the helmet, but also how to remove the technology in case of malfunction without discarding the whole product. This is an excellent solution that the jury hopes to see on the market soon.
