HearO

The Hearing Aid Revolution

About HearO

Would you willingly wear a hearing aid for a full day, even if you didn’t need it? The majority of people we asked said no. However, when the same question was posed about eyeglasses, people were more positive. There is a stigma surrounding hearing aids that hinders people from living their lives to their full capacity, something scientists claim can lead to social isolation and depression. Does it have to be like this?
The HearO was born with a mission; to fight such stigmas and empower people. By definition, a stigma means a physical or mental mark that is characteristic of a defect or disease, leading to discrimination of the people involved. We found out that the most impactful way to tackle the stigma surrounding hearing aids is to blur the line between those with hearing impairment and those without. This means developing a product everyone wants, which is easily accessible. The HearO is built on a need shared by people with and without hearing loss; the possibility to control your soundscape. For a hearing-impaired person this might mean to enhance speech quality, for someone else it might mean to soften background noises when commuting. With the HearO, you can adjust the volume of the surrounding noise level by turning the disc on the left bud. Just like a volume knob.
Being a product for everyone, it needs to be adaptable. Today’s earphones are certainly stylish, but if you want diversity you need to buy different earphones. With the HearO you can create personal style expressions by using fashionable discs. There are discs available for whatever appearance you need, be it business, casual, or party.
